Staring down 100 musket muzzles unarmed he states, “If there is one among you who wants to kill his emperor, here I am."

A tense silence lay across the scene.

“Vive L’Empereur!” breaks out through the ranks. Cheers and celebration spread like a cascading storm.

France once again has an Emperor.
